About Dominoes Classic Duel
Dominoes Classic Duel uses the traditional double-six set of 28 tiles, and it is played by two people. You can warm up against the computer, then take on a live opponent online when you feel ready.
Dominoes looks like a game of luck, but good players are counting. There are exactly seven tiles carrying each number, so every tile on the table tells you something about what is left in your opponent's hand.
How to play
- Each player gets seven tiles. The rest stay face down in reserve, known as the market or boneyard.
- The player holding the double six starts by placing it.
- On your turn, match one of your tiles to an open end of the line. A 6 can only touch a 6.
- If you cannot play, you draw from the boneyard or pass, depending on the game mode.
- The round ends when someone plays their last tile, or when nobody can move. The lowest pip count in hand wins a blocked round.
These are the usual rules. If the game shows you something different on screen, follow the game.
Tips
- Play your heavy tiles early. If the round gets blocked, high pips left in your hand count against you.
- Keep variety in your hand. Holding several different numbers means you are less likely to be stuck.
- Count what has been played. If five of the seven 4s are on the table, a 4 at the end of the line is a strong block.
- Play doubles early when you can. They connect to just one number, so they get harder to place as a round goes on.
