About Connect 4 Multiplayer
Connect 4 Multiplayer is the classic game of four in a row. Play the computer, share one device with a friend, or go online against another player. Games last a few minutes and it is easy to fall into "just one more".
The rules take ten seconds to explain, but the game runs deep. Connect 4 was solved by computers in 1988: with perfect play the first player can always force a win by starting in the centre column. Humans rarely play perfectly, which is what keeps it interesting.
How to play
- Players take turns dropping one disc into any of the seven columns.
- The disc falls to the lowest open space in that column.
- The first player to connect four discs in a line wins. Lines can be horizontal, vertical or diagonal.
- If all 42 spaces fill up with no line of four, the game is a draw.
These are the usual rules. If the game shows you something different on screen, follow the game.
Tips
- Start in the centre column. A disc there belongs to more possible lines than one anywhere else.
- Before each move, check what your disc makes possible for the space directly above it.
- Build threats in two directions at once. Your opponent can only block one.
- Look for a threat that sits above another threat. These "stacked" wins are hard to defend.
