Master Checkers Multiplayer

Polished draughts with kinging jumps. Play the computer, a friend on one device or an online rival.

About Master Checkers Multiplayer

Master Checkers Multiplayer is a polished version of the classic game, known as draughts in much of the world. Practise against the computer, share one device with a friend, or play online. It is laid out for a tall screen.

The game looks simpler than chess, but it is far from trivial. Computers took until 2007 to solve it, proving that perfect play from both sides ends in a draw. In practice, forced captures make it very tactical, because you can trap an opponent by offering a piece.

How to play

  1. Each side starts with 12 pieces on the dark squares.
  2. Pieces move one square diagonally forward.
  3. Capture by jumping over an adjacent enemy piece into an empty square behind it.
  4. If a capture is available, you have to take it. The game calls this a mandatory jump.
  5. Reach the far row and your piece becomes a king, which can move both forward and backward.
  6. Win by capturing all enemy pieces or leaving your opponent with no legal move.

These are the usual rules. If the game shows you something different on screen, follow the game.

Tips

  • Hold your back row as long as you can. It stops the other side from getting kings.
  • Fight for the centre, where your pieces have the most options.
  • Keep your pieces close together. A piece with support behind it cannot be jumped.
  • Offer a piece when the forced capture sets up a double jump for you.
