About Master Chess Multiplayer
Master Chess Multiplayer is the classic game of chess in a clean, simple layout. Play the computer to practise, share one device with a friend, or go online against another player. It is laid out for a tall screen, so it suits a phone held upright as well as a computer.
Chess is one of the most studied games in history, and no two games play out the same way. The rules fit on a single page, but you can spend a lifetime improving. There is no luck involved, so every win is yours.
How to play
- White moves first, then players take turns moving one piece at a time.
- Select a piece, then select the square you want to move it to. Each type of piece moves in its own way.
- Capture an enemy piece by moving onto its square.
- If your king is attacked, you are in check and must deal with it on your next move.
- You win by checkmate: the enemy king is attacked and has no way to escape.
These are the usual rules. If the game shows you something different on screen, follow the game.
Tips
- Control the centre early. Pieces in the middle of the board reach more squares.
- Develop your knights and bishops before moving the same piece twice.
- Castle early to tuck your king away behind a wall of pawns.
- Before each move, ask what your opponent is threatening. Most beginner games are lost to simple oversights.

Questions about Master Chess Multiplayer
Can I play chess against the computer here?
Yes. Choose the mode that plays against the computer. You can also share one device with a friend or play online.
Which piece is the most valuable?
The queen is the strongest piece, usually valued at about nine pawns. The king cannot be traded at all, because losing it ends the game.
